Jessica Biel Movies: Her Journey from Teen Drama to Box Office Star

Jessica officially shed her teen-drama image when she stepped back in time for The Illusionist. Playing a turn-of-the-century duchess alongside heavy-hitters Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti was a total game-changer. Critics loved it, and she walked away with the Rising Star Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and an Achievement Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Talk about a major career flex.

Next up, Jess showed off her serious acting chops playing an Iraq War veteran in Home of the Brave. While she and co-star Samuel L. Jackson snagged Prism Award nominations, the movie sadly flopped hard, getting pulled from theaters twice before heading straight to DVD.

But Jess didn't let that stop her. In a total shocker for fans, she made a surprise return to 7th Heaven for what was supposed to be the big series finale! Even though she was crazy busy shooting her sci-fi thriller Next with Nicolas Cage and Julianne Moore, show creator Brenda Hampton was determined to get Mary Camden back. Jess, being a total pro, squeezed in her scenes during a filming break.

Jessica definitely knows how to balance high drama with pure box office gold. She teamed up with Adam Sandler and Kevin James for the summer comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Critics weren't totally sold, but fans sure were—it smashed the box office to open at number one!

She’s also been rubbing elbows with Hollywood royalty, getting invited to announce the nominations for both the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Casual, right?

Going Nude: She signed on to play a stripper in Powder Blue alongside Forest Whitaker and Patrick Swayze, marking her very first on-screen nude role.

Behind the Camera: She produced and starred in her own short film, Hole in the Paper Sky.

The girl is booked and busy across the pond! She flew to England to shoot Easy Virtue, playing a witty 1920s divorcée pushing her new in-laws buttons. The reviews from the Toronto International Film Festival are already calling her an "irresistible force of nature."

And if you think she’s slowing down, think again. She just finished filming the wild political satire Nailed with Jake Gyllenhaal (despite a ton of crazy production shutdowns), has an animated flick called Planet 51 on the way, and is set to produce and star in the upcoming book adaptation Die a Little.
